    Florence Melton Adult Mini-School
    The Mini-School, a project of The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, enables Jewish learners from all backgrounds to learn about Jewish traditions and culture in a challenging and inspiring course of study. Two hours weekly for 30 weeks per year for two years. Graduate class opportunities available. Call Rosa Mandelblum (ext. 107).
    PJ Library
    For families with children ages 6 months to 8 years. Receive a free, high-quality children’s book or CD each month for a year. This initiative aims to enrich the lives of area families with Jewish books and songs, and to help identify opportunities for involvement in our community.     Computers 4 Seniors
    Computers 4 Seniors is a national nonprofit organization – sponsored locally by the Sarasota-Manatee Jewish Federation – that offers on-site computer and Internet education for older adults and seniors. Volunteers are needed one morning or afternoon per week who are computer savvy (Vista OS preferred) to assist the instructors. Call Myron Levin (941.351.8855).
    Shalom Baby
    This outreach program welcomes parents and their newborns or newly adopted children into the community by helping new parents to find support and build Jewish connections. Families who are expecting or have recently celebrated the arrival of a baby should contact the Federation to receive a complimentary Shalom Baby Gift Basket. Call Gisele Pintchuck (ext. 121).

    Mondays, 7:30-8:30 pm
    Explore the Talmud and its laws in its original text.  No prior knowledge of the Talmud or Hebrew is necessary.  Book fee:  $45.

    Participate in a fascinating class on the Torah portion of the week.  Discover the mystical meanings and lessons behind ancient stories.   Admission is free.

    Come and enjoy a terrific kosher falafel lunch on the first Sunday of every month at noon at the Chabad Jewish Center.  Cost $4 a falafel.

    Join Chanie Bukiet for a monthly Lunch & Learn. Feast on a delicious lunch and sample from a variety of exciting Jewish topics.  Admission free.
    One-on-One Torah Study
    Moses and Maimonides now make house calls.  Learn more about your heritage, faith, and history by illuminating your life with knowledge, insight, and understanding of Judaism. Contact Chabad to arrange your personal study session with the Rabbi at your home or office.

    Camp Gan Israel  4-Week Summer Camp

    June 28- July 23

    Camp Gan Israel Summer Camp will offer children in Pre-K through grade 6 an exciting 4 -week experience.  Starting June 25 through July 20, campers will enjoy a variety of innovative ideas, creative programs and funshops.  Camp hours are 9:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. Cost is $600 for the entire 4-week session,$325 for each 2-week session or $200 per week plus $50 registration fee.     Samuel  & Sarah Kaplan Preschool

    Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Chabad’s Samuel & Sarah Kaplan Preschool, serves the educational needs of children ages 2 - 5 years. Chabad Preschool will expose children to a wide range of experiences including art, movement, pre-writing & reading skills and early math skills, in a warm and stimulating environment.     Adult Hebrew and Yiddish Classes
    Hebrew is offered at all levels from begininng letter learning to advanced modern Hebrew conversation. A Yiddish conversation and culture class is enjoyed by many of us who didn't realize how much Yiddish we actually know.Call 484-2022 for information and schedules.
    Weekly Shabbat Services
    Fridays at 7:30, Saturday mornings as scheduled. Our congregation is unaffiliated but we use the  Reform prayer book for services. Much of the service  is in English, but the many traditional Hebrew prayers and songs are both translated and transliterated phonetically. Torah reading  is translated and explained. Jews of all backgrounds, interfaith families, and anyone interested in Judaism, are welcome to attend.

    Temple Emanu-El Preschool
    NAC-accredited and Gold Star-certified Jewish preschool offering school-year and summer camp programs for ages 18 months-5 years, including VPK. Free Mother-Baby classes offered for ages 2-18 months; Mommy and Me with PlayDance offered for ages 18-36 months. Extended hours from 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. to accommodate working families.     Temple Emanu-El Religious School
    Vibrant, joyful, and enriching, Temple Emanu-El Religious School offers Sunday school for kindergarten through B'nai Mitzvah and additional Wednesday afternoon instruction for grades 4-7. After B'nai Mitzvah, students attend the Communiteen community religious school while enjoying special meetings with Rabbi Glickman and preparing fir Confirmation at Temple Emanu-El. The religious school also has a youth group and social events for kids and families throughout the year, including Religious School Moms Night Out, Religious School Dads Night Out, a sukkah party at the rabbi's home, family movies, and more.     Worship Services
    Conducted by Rabbi Brenner J. Glickman and accompanied by our choir, Shabbat and holiday worship services are spiritual, engaging, and meaningful. The first Friday of every month is a Family Shabbat Service at 7 p.m., featuring the Family Shabbat Band, Rabbi Glickman's remarkable storytelling, and an opportunity for every child to ascend the bima as the Torah is taken from the Holy Ark. Other Friday evening services begin at 8 p.m. (March and May), 7:30 p.m. (April), and 6 p.m. during summer months. Shabbat morning worship is held the first Saturday of each month at 10:30 a.m. Please call for a complete schedule of worship services at 371-2788.
    Lunch with the Rabbi
    Join Rabbi Brenner Glickman the first Wednesday of every month from noon-1:30 p.m. in the library of Temple Emanu-El for lunch and conversation. Bring a brown-bag lunch and your thoughts to share; we'll provide delicious cookies for dessert. All are welcome!
    Family Programs
    Tot Shabbat, family services, havdalahs on the beach, family movies, a Hanukkah party at Bounce U, a father-daughter dance, and park playdates are held for Temple Emanu-El families and community friends throughout the year. Please call Rabbi Elaine Glickman at 379-1997 for more information.

    Mitzvah Day
    Join us for a day of community service at N. Peter Morris Mitzvah Day on Sunday, May 2, beginning at noon. Opportunities for service include drives to collect food, clothing, toiletries, pet supplies, children’s books, backpacks for foster children, and baby items for the needy as well as projects like decorating cookies for firefighters, preparing lunches for the homeless, wrapping gifts for needy children, a social hour for nursing home residents, a party for homeless families, a jump-rope-and-hula-hoop-a-thon for tzedakah, sorting food at the food bank, playing with dogs and cats at an animal shelter, making cards for soldiers and nursing home patients, creating placemats for Anchin residents, preparing dinner for residents at the Ronald McDonald House, and knitting hats and booties for hospitalized infants and children with cancer.
