We work to advance this mission by:
• Meeting the human needs of the local Jewish community and of fellow Jews world-wide.

• Promoting a positive Jewish identity.

• Supporting Israel.

• Involving and building community among the Jews of Sarasota-Manatee.

• Strengthening ties between the Sarasota-Manatee Jewish community and the broader society in which it exists.

We use the following vehicles:
• The Federation, with help from community partners, offers an assortement of Jewish programming for all ages.

• In addition to directly serving the local community through a variety of programs and services, Federation's Annual Campaign supports numerous local, regional, national and international humanitarian organizations. Programs and services funded must align with Federation's top priorities: Jewish Safety Net and Jewish Continuity.

• Federation's Jewish Community Foundation grows funds for current needs and administers a deferred giving program which will ultimately provide and unrestricted endowment for Federation to use in meeting emergencies, seeding new initiatives and for as-yet unforeseen needs.

• On issues of human rights, discrimination, the Middle East, human services and social action, the Heller Israel Advocacy Initiative acts as a voice of the Jewish community. 

Through education, pro-action and counter-action, the Heller IAI works closely with others to ensure the security of the community and the protection of rights for all.

• The Jewish Community Calendar is a compilation of all meetings, programs and events of interest within the Jewish community.

• Under Federation auspices, members of the community are able to enjoy unique Missions to Israel where they will be exposed to Israeli culture, meet key decision makers and visit communities helped by Federation funds. Missions are geared to the general Jewish population, community leadership and families. More about missions.

• The Federation has several methods of electronic communication:

  - The weekly (opt-in) email - which provides news links, upcoming Jewish programming and emergency/crisis response. Register HERE.

  - The Federation blog offers insight on relevant issues and provides a forum and focal point for communal response. Visit www.federationblog.org.


  - The Federation offers upcoming programming and blog posts through it's Facebook page.

• Federation publishes The Jewish News, a monthly newspaper which is circulated to Jewish subscribers in Sarasota and Manatee Counties, (8,000+ Households). It also is distributed to local synagogues and Jewish organizations.

The Jewish News includes articles about local news of interest to the Jewish community; information about local temples, agencies and membership organizations; as well as the programs and services provided by Federation.
